Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Champions League match.
For Pafos, the trip to Olympiacos in Greece will carry real weight. The newly crowned champions of Cyprus will try to take at least a draw away, as they already proved their credentials in qualifying against top opposition.
Olympiacos
Olympiacos will play in the UEFA Champions League league phase for the first time since the 2020/21 season. In that campaign they had to come through qualifying, whereas now, thanks to the association coefficient, the squad qualified directly for the league phase. Olympiacos have started the Super League Greece season strongly, recording three wins from three with a combined score of 9:0. Last season they reached the round of 16 of the Europa League. Throughout that run they went unbeaten at home (three wins, two draws), with a combined home goal tally of 9:2.
Pafos
Pafos won the Cypriot title for the first time in their history only last season. Their progress to the league phase of the UEFA Champions League came as a surprise, since they faced regular European participants in Maccabi Tel Aviv (1:1, 1:0), Dynamo Kyiv (1:0, 2:0) and Crvena Zvezda (2:1, 1:1). The Serbs were the final obstacle on the way to the target.
Olympiacos vs Pafos Prediction
This summer Pafos delivered excellent results and did not lose a single match, although in the 2024/25 UEFA Conference League they suffered defeats even in the qualifying rounds, finishing with five losses, two draws and only one win overall. We expect a steady showing from Pafos in the Champions League, so we can take the squad on a positive handicap here.
