On Friday, Olympique Lyonnais and Angers will kick off Matchday 5 in Ligue 1. The visitors will once again have to cope with a hostile crowd.
Olympique Lyonnais
On 14 September, the hosts dropped points for the first time this season — more than that, they were beaten. A balanced contest against Stade Rennais (they led 1:0) turned when a midfielder for the hosts committed a rash foul near his own penalty area and was sent off in the 75th minute. After his dismissal, the team conceded three times, with two goals arriving in stoppage time. Even so, three wins to start the campaign keep the squad in the Ligue 1 top four.
Angers
The visitors are hovering near the relegation zone. The draw in Matchday 4 against Metz (1:1) preserved the status quo and also helped them move away from the cluster of rivals on three points, all of whom lost. The team could only draw with previously pointless opponents. The chances were sufficient to win (2.27-1.71 in xG), yet they narrowly avoided defeat — only in the final minute and only from the penalty spot.
Olympique Lyonnais vs Angers Prediction
Provided Olympique Lyonnais maintain their discipline, they should beat Angers, who look unlikely to finish above mid-table this season.
