Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Europa League match.
This season, both Olympique Lyonnais and Eintracht Frankfurt are going through transitional phases, yet each side shares the same objective—securing a spot in the Champions League for the next campaign. Both teams seem well-positioned to remain in the top eight of the Europa League, but they'll surely be pushing forward in their head-to-head clash.
Olympique Lyonnais
Over the weekend, Olympique Lyonnais extended their run of emphatic victories to three matches, with Angers SCO being their latest victim (3:0). They have adapted well to the demanding schedule, especially as the coaching staff skillfully manage squad rotation. Their trip to Qarabağ (4:1) saw Lyon notch their first international goals from Georges Mikautadze, generating 2.35 xG with 10 shots on target over the 90 minutes in Azerbaijan.
Eintracht Frankfurt
The attacking duo of Hugo Ekitiké and Omar Marmoush is causing nightmares for every Eintracht opponent's defence. In the fifth round against Midtjylland (2:1), the Egyptian player’s contributions (1+1) led the team to victory, and Eintracht Frankfurt held a significant advantage in possession (2.49–0.82 in xG). However, their elimination from the DFB-Pokal at the hands of RB Leipzig (0:3) and a draw with FC Augsburg (2:2) indicate that Frankfurt remain unstable and prone to mistakes.
Olympique Lyonnais vs Eintracht Frankfurt Prediction
In Lyon's last eight matches, there have been goals from both sides on six occasions. Eintracht Frankfurt will be persistent at Olympique’s ground, and we believe in goals from each team—they might even find the net by half-time.
