Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Women’s Champions League match.
Olympique Lyonnais took a solid step toward the semi-finals with a 2:0 win in Munich, but the tie is far from over. Bayern Munich will throw everything forward in the return leg, and both sides have enough firepower to light up the scoreboard.
Olympique Lyonnais (women)
The French giants were dominant in the first leg, with xG stats (2.61 vs 0.82) and shots on target (10:1) underlining their control. Lindsey Horan missed a penalty, but her assist for Melchie Dumornay’s goal capped off a commanding performance. Lyon followed it up with a 5:0 derby demolition of Saint-Étienne at the weekend, making it seven wins on the bounce — five of them with four goals or more. With a 10-point cushion over Paris Saint-Germain in the league, Lyon are full of confidence.
Bayern Munich (women)
Bayern also enjoyed domestic success at the weekend, with a 3:2 win over Hoffenheim in the DFB-Pokal, thanks to a Pernille Harder hat-trick. Despite being outplayed in the first leg, Bayern managed 10 attempts and had moments that could’ve shifted momentum. With three straight away wins, they won’t be heading to France to sit back.
Olympique Lyonnais (women) vs Bayern Munich (women) Prediction
Both teams boast dynamic, attack-minded squads. Lyon are ruthless at home, but Bayern will push high and look to make it a contest from the off. That sets us up for a fast-paced, open clash where early goals are likely.
