Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Championship match.
Oxford United extended their unbeaten run under Gary Rowett to eight matches, maintaining impressive consistency since his appointment. Meanwhile, Bristol City are fighting for a play-off spot, but their away struggles could continue at the Kassam Stadium.
Oxford United
Bristol City will present a tougher challenge than Oxford’s recent opponents—Luton Town (3:2) at home and Stoke City (0:0) away. However, they are similar in level to Blackburn Rovers, who sit just above them in the table—and Oxford beat them 1:0 at home. Even before the managerial change, Oxford were difficult to beat at home, losing only three of 11 matches at the Kassam. Under Gary Rowett, they’ve been even stronger, winning all four home games so far.
Bristol City
Last weekend, Bristol City claimed a vital 2:1 win over Blackburn Rovers, a direct rival in the play-off race. However, their away form remains a major concern—they have a +10 goal difference at home, but a -7 goal difference away, where they’ve won just three of 15 games. Additionally, Bristol City have failed to win their last seven away matches, picking up just three draws in that run.
Oxford United vs Bristol City Prediction
In their first meeting this season, Oxford took the lead but lost late on (1:2). Given their strong home form and Bristol City’s away struggles, Oxford should at least earn a draw, and a win is very possible.
