Adam Williams presents his prediction for the Cheltenham Paddy Power Arkle Challenge Trophy Trial Novices' Chase (Grade 2, 2m, 4yo+) horse racing event.
L'Eau du Sud lived up to his favourite status by winning on his chase debut at Stratford on 31st October. His main rival didn't finish the race, and he bested No Risk Des Flos by ten lengths. Since moving from France to join Dan Skelton, he had not secured a win until now. It seems a bout of wind surgery has likely aided his performance, helping him achieve a couple of runner-up finishes in premier handicaps.
Iberico Lord is about to make the transition to fences. He did not finish his last race of the previous season but had notched up victories in a couple of major handicaps before that. With Nicky Henderson's stables currently in fine form, Iberico Lord presents an intriguing choice at 3/1 for a win on bet365.
Jordans has raced just a couple of times in Ireland but has already made a name for himself. After coming second on his fences debut, he clinched a win in a Novice Chase at Punchestown. Having only joined Joseph Patrick O'Brien from France in September, where he exclusively ran in hurdle races.
Path d'Oroux started in chases last season but has yet to secure a victory, allowing him entry into this prize. He won his season debut but finished third at Carlisle afterwards. Although he holds a decent rating, his latest performance left much to be desired.
Primoz has raced sparingly, boasting a 50% win rate from his four starts last season. Transitioning successfully to fences this season, he's shown promise, and despite his limited experience, he could spring a surprise.
