Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the CONCACAF Gold Cup match.
Panama
It may have looked like a narrow 1:0 win over Guatemala in their second group match, but in truth, the result was rarely in doubt. Guatemala managed just three shots all game, only one of which was on target — and that came in the first half. Panama seized control from the 19th minute, when Tomás Rodríguez finally broke the deadlock, and calmly saw the result through.
Jamaica
Jamaica came perilously close to dropping points in stoppage time against group underdogs Guadeloupe. Andre Blake, largely a spectator for most of the match, pulled off a match-saving stop in the 91st minute. Moments later, Guadeloupe had what they thought was an equaliser ruled out — sparking protest from the players.
Panama vs Jamaica Prediction
Jamaica scored both of their goals against Guadeloupe in a short window just before half-time, and failed to find the net at all against Guatemala. With such inconsistent end product, it’s hard to back them here. A draw is still in play, but with Panama looking more solid and composed, the safer option is the neutral handicap on the favourites.
