Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Ligue 1 match.
OGC Nice are still in contention for the all-important fourth place in Ligue 1, which would guarantee them a spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League. Their next challenge comes against Paris Saint-Germain, who have already achieved their domestic goals and are likely to take a more relaxed approach — an opportunity OGC Nice must look to exploit.
Paris Saint-Germain
Paris Saint-Germain have not been fielding their strongest line-up in recent Ligue 1 fixtures. While this hasn’t necessarily prevented the team from picking up wins, their attacking productivity has noticeably dipped. They edged past relegation-threatened Angers with a narrow 1:0 win, registering only 1.6 xG, and followed that with a modest two-goal tally against a struggling Le Havre AC side.
OGC Nice
For a typical Ligue 1 team, facing Paris Saint-Germain presents a completely different challenge than playing against mid-table or lower-ranked opponents. When OGC Nice meet such teams, they often take the initiative but leave themselves open to counterattacks. Against Paris Saint-Germain, however, a more conservative approach is expected, with the squad likely sitting deep and awaiting isolated chances. This was evident in their 1:2 defeat to AS Monaco, where they held just 43% of possession and posted 0.57 xG. A similar scenario played out in the reverse fixture against Paris Saint-Germain, as OGC Nice managed only 29% possession and recorded 0.53 xG.
Paris Saint-Germain vs OGC Nice Prediction
The first meeting between these sides ended in a 1:1 stalemate. Now, with Paris Saint-Germain focusing on their UEFA Champions League campaign, it’s unlikely their best eleven will feature. Under these circumstances, a high-scoring match seems improbable.
