Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Ligue 1 match.
Paris Saint-Germain’s phenomenal start in domestic competition virtually leaves their rivals no hope in the title race. Heading into the match against Stade Brestois, they are the only team yet to drop points.
Paris Saint-Germain
Olympique Marseille are trying to keep up with PSG’s goal-scoring form (13-10), but PSG have a much stronger xG (11.09-7.20). It appears that Antero Henrique has embraced the challenge of rebuilding the team without Kylian Mbappe, focusing on Bradley Barcola and Ousmane Dembélé, who have delivered (5 + 2 combined). The newly signed talent from Benfica, João Neves, has also had an impressive start with four assists.
Stade Brestois 29
Heavy defeats from Olympique Marseille (1:5) and Lens (0:2) were significant blows to Stade Brestois, but they managed to rebound with a 4:0 win over Saint-Etienne. In those losses, Brestois' xGA was a dreadful 4.53 — an alarming figure for a team that will soon be competing in the Champions League. It’s likely that the coaching staff will stick to their usual formation with a single holding midfielder against PSG, which doesn't mitigate the risk of another setback.
Paris Saint-Germain vs Stade Brestois 29 Prediction
Last season, Paris Saint-Germain achieved two wins and one draw in three head-to-head matches with Stade Brestois (3:2, 2:2, and 3:1). The difference in class and current form between the teams is too noticeable — Paris Saint-Germain should comfortably secure all three points at home.
