Adam Williams presents his prediction for the NBA match.
Two bottom-tier Eastern Conference sides square off in a matchup that, on paper, doesn’t promise much — and that’s precisely where the intrigue lies. With both franchises eyeing favourable lottery positions, winning is hardly a top priority at this stage of the season.
Philadelphia 76ers
The Philadelphia 76ers come into this contest on a five-game losing streak, and it’s hardly a surprise considering Nick Nurse is down to just nine healthy players. In their latest outing against the New Orleans Pelicans — a team ranked 26th in defensive efficiency — the 76ers still managed just 99 points, shooting a miserable 39.1% from the field (34-of-87).
Washington Wizards
Similar to their opponents, the Wizards are currently mired in a five-game losing streak. Following their sensational victory over the Denver Nuggets (126:123), key players Marcus Smart and Corey Kispert were sidelined with injuries. Consequently, their scoring has plummeted to an average of just 104.2 points per game. Furthermore, those five losses came against relatively weak opponents, including conference bottom-dwellers like the Toronto Raptors and Portland Trail Blazers.
Philadelphia 76ers vs Washington Wizards Prediction
Their previous meeting in January, when the Philadelphia 76ers were already without several stars, ended in a 212-point total. Now, with both squads depleted, there’s little to suggest a high-scoring shootout.
