Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Championship match.
Plymouth Argyle pulled off one of the biggest shocks of the FA Cup this season, stunning Liverpool in the fourth round. Anyone who backed their victory would have won 15-19 times their stake. However, despite that incredible moment, they remain bottom of the Championship and are once again considered underdogs.
Plymouth Argyle
Sunday’s match against Liverpool was a fairytale. Everything seemed to go their way: a penalty in their favour, Liverpool missing 10 of 14 shots on target, and two incredible saves from Conor Hazard in injury time. It may have been a lucky victory, but it cannot be underestimated—especially for the psychological boost it will provide the squad. Before their FA Cup heroics, Plymouth also defeated fifth-placed West Bromwich Albion (2:1) and earned a 2:2 away draw against fourth-placed Sunderland. Under new manager Miron Muslic, Plymouth appear to be on the rise.
Millwall
Millwall also advanced in the FA Cup, though their 2:0 win over Championship leaders Leeds United was overshadowed by Plymouth’s heroics. Leeds rotated heavily, playing their backup goalkeeper and resting key forwards Joël Piroe, Daniel James, and Brenden Aaronson, who have combined for 29 goals this season. In the Championship, Millwall are in excellent form, winning three consecutive matches—including back-to-back away wins over Luton Town and Portsmouth (both 1:0).
Plymouth Argyle vs Millwall Prediction
Both teams are enjoying a strong run, making it difficult to pick a winner. However, Plymouth’s confidence-boosting victory over the Premier League leaders, combined with home advantage, suggests they can extend their unbeaten run.
