Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Volleyball World Championship match.
This quarter-final is being labelled as one of the most predictable of the tournament, yet Turkey’s unbeaten run suggests they should not be written off.
Poland
The reigning Nations League champions continue their quest for another major trophy, though their last-16 tie against Canada was far from straightforward. They eventually prevailed 25:18, 23:25, 25:20, 25:14, but for long spells were rescued by Canadian errors – 35 in total. Poland’s strength is undeniable, but lapses in consistency remain an issue.
Turkey
Turkey looked strong in their 3:1 win over the Netherlands (27:29, 25:23, 25:16, 25:19). Once again Adis Lagumdzija led from the front with 27 points, while their defensive wall was equally impressive, collecting 12 points from blocks alone. That balance of attack and defence makes them a dangerous opponent.
Poland vs Turkey Prediction
While Poland are considered the favourites, Turkey have enough firepower to stretch the champions. Expect a tight contest with extended rallies and multiple sets. This clash looks unlikely to be over quickly.
