Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Women’s Euro match.
In their final group stage fixture, Sweden are set to meet group favourites Germany. Therefore, securing three points in this second match is vital to keep qualification chances straightforward. In this context, Poland appear to be a favourable opponent.
Poland (women)
Poland managed to hold their ground against Germany, spending much of the match under sustained pressure in defence. They conceded 25 shots, six of which were on target. Goalkeeper Kinga Szemik was beaten twice. In the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 qualifiers, the same German side recorded 3:1 and 4:1 scorelines.
Sweden (women)
Against Denmark, Sweden struggled to create clear-cut chances, scoring just once despite registering 18 efforts on goal. Accuracy was a concern again, with only four shots on target. Attacking output has declined this year, with five of their eight matches ending with Total Under 2.5 goals.
Poland (women) vs Sweden (women) Prediction
While recent matches suggest a trend towards low-scoring affairs, there’s still potential for the match to feature more than two goals. Their last three head-to-head meetings all resulted in high-scoring wins for Sweden: 3:0, 4:0, and 4:2. However, the most recent of those matches took place over four years ago. Given the current competitive nature of the UEFA Women’s Euro, we expect no more than three goals in this encounter. A win for Sweden also seems probable.
