Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Portuguese Primeira Liga match.
With five matches remaining in the season, Porto sit only in fourth place. They are under considerable pressure, as their rivals have gained momentum while Porto continue to drop points, even against mid-standings opposition. Meanwhile, Famalicão have found consistency and could pose a real threat to the favourites.
Porto
Porto are enduring one of their weakest campaigns in recent years and risk missing out on a Champions League place. They have managed just six wins in their last 13 Primeira Liga fixtures, and only two of those by more than a one-goal margin. Defensive issues remain a concern, with the squad conceding in nine of those matches. Since the start of January, Porto have allowed 16 goals, compared to only nine in the 13 league games prior.
Famalicão
The visitors are enjoying a strong spell, having won their last three matches. They have collected points in nine of their last 11 outings. In the reverse fixture earlier this season, Famalicão held Porto to a 1:1 draw. Despite registering just three shots to Porto’s 16, Famalicão posted 1.12 xG compared to 0.88 for the hosts, showing they are capable of competing effectively.
Porto vs Famalicão Prediction
Porto are in the midst of their poorest season in recent memory, having dropped points in four of their last five home matches. Famalicão are full of confidence and are unbeaten in their last two encounters with Porto. A comfortable win for the hosts seems unlikely, making the visitors with a handicap the more appealing option.
