Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Championship match.
Due to their involvement in the FA Cup fourth round, both Preston North End and Millwall had to postpone their 31st-round Championship fixture, which they will now play at the start of the week.
Preston North End
Preston North End have shown impressive defensive solidity in recent matches, keeping three consecutive clean sheets—against Wycombe Wanderers (0:0 in the FA Cup), Norwich City (1:0), and Burnley (0:0) in the league. At Deepdale, Preston are unbeaten in their last nine Championship matches (three wins, six draws). Their biggest issue remains converting draws into wins, which could be the key to a stronger league position.
Millwall
Millwall’s matches tend to be low-scoring affairs, despite occasional anomalies such as their defeat to Plymouth Argyle (1:5) or a draw with Cardiff City (2:2). Since the start of 2025, five of their last 10 Championship matches ended under 2.5 goals, and their away matches show an even clearer trend—seven of the last 10 finishing under 2.5 goals. However, Millwall have struggled on the road, winning just three of their 15 away matches this season.
Preston North End vs Millwall Prediction
With both teams focusing on defensive solidity and Millwall struggling for away wins, the most logical bet is a low-scoring game where Preston avoid defeat. Given Preston’s home form and Millwall’s tendency towards tight, low-scoring encounters, a combination bet offers value.
