Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the EFL Championship match
Sheffield United should learn their lesson after their well-deserved relegation from Premier League. The side has managed to keep many key players. They can finish in the top 4. Some players who played well in the Premier League, despite the final failure, are to be in the starting XI against Preston.
Preston North End
The previous Championship season ended badly for Preston, with five shutout losses in a row. As a result, they fell away from the play-off in the middle of the table. There weren’t many changes in the team in the summer, one of which was the exit of Liverpool young player Ben Woodburn, who couldn’t play at the senior level. In the pre-season, the team had a win over Fiorentina (2:1), but the loss in the last game against Everton (0:3) shows problems in defence.
Sheffield United
Unreliable defence became a weak spot for Sheffield, so almost all their opponents in the Premier League took advantage of it. This summer, the team progressed throughout the entire pre-season, they had four wins and one draw with a total score of 12:4. It’s worth noting that Cameron Archer and Jayden Bogle left the team (they brought 22 million euros to the team), but Brewster, Aston Trusty, Ivo Grbic and Anel Ahmedhodzic stayed in the team.
Preston North End - Sheffield United Prediction
Preston has less star players than Sheffield, who are looking to redeem themselves for their last failed season. We’re taking the handicap for Sheffield United in the opening round.
