Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Championship match.
This is Preston North End’s only home match before a couple of away fixtures against clubs from the top four, where they can clearly aim for three points. Swansea City will aim to demonstrate that their win over Blackburn Rovers was not accidental.
Preston North End
Everyone at Preston North End is currently in a positive mood. They recorded a 3:0 victory over Burnley in the fifth round of the FA Cup and reached the quarter-finals for the first time since the 1965/66 season. In the Championship, however, their results have been less impressive. They have gone three matches without a win – with two draws and a 1:2 defeat in their most recent game against Coventry City. It is worth noting that the defeat was suffered away. At Deepdale, they have remained unbeaten in 13 consecutive matches across all competitions, and Total Over 3.5 has occurred only once.
Swansea City
The Welsh club also tend to play conservatively, but on the road they have conceded several goals. They have recently suffered a 1:3 loss to Stoke City and a 0:3 defeat in the Welsh derby against Cardiff City, although Total Under 3.5 has been a more common outcome in their matches, occurring in seven of their last ten games. Swansea City have secured a victory in only three of these matches.
Preston North End vs Swansea City Prediction
Swansea City’s away struggles give Preston North End every chance to win or draw. However, given their relatively low-scoring home fixtures, a Total Over 3.5 in this match is unlikely.
