One of the most important clashes on Saturday's European football agenda will take place in Eindhoven. PSV Eindhoven and Feyenoord are locked in an intense race for the championship title, and the recent slip-up by PSV offers a glimmer of hope to their competitors.
PSV Eindhoven
A surprising defeat to SC Heerenveen (0:1) in the last round has cut PSV Eindhoven’s lead to just nine points over their closest rival. Despite this setback, they boast the best attack in the league, having scored 56 goals in 16 matches. Their emphatic victory over Koninklijke HFC (8:0) in the KNVB Cup showcased how quickly PSV can bounce back from disappointment—Ivica Perišić registered 2+1, while Ricardo Pepi scored twice. Eindhoven’s squad houses a fierce competition for starting spots, offering the manager a wealth of options.
Feyenoord
In the same KNVB Cup round of 32, Feyenoord overcame MVV Maastricht (2:1) with some difficulty, extending their unbeaten streak to eight matches.
