Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the ATP Stuttgart match.
Frenchman Quentin Halys arrives in Stuttgart riding the momentum of a solid Roland-Garros campaign, where he reached the third round and pushed Holger Rune to the limit. Now switching to grass — a surface far better suited to his power-based game — Halys will look to capitalise on his booming serve. Taylor Fritz, meanwhile, hasn’t hit top gear in 2025, particularly in clashes with higher-ranked opposition, although grass continues to be one of his more consistent surfaces.
Quentin Halys
Currently ranked No.47, Halys impressed on clay and now makes the transition to his favoured grass courts, where his serve becomes a major weapon. Since 2023, the Frenchman has averaged 16 aces per match on this surface. In his Stuttgart opener, he showed resilience in coming from behind to beat Lorenzo Sonego. Notably, Halys has made life difficult for top-10 opponents — in seven of his last nine matches against elite players, the line of over 21.5 total games was comfortably covered.
Taylor Fritz
Ranked No.7 in the world, Fritz enters this clash with question marks surrounding his current form. In 2025, he only managed five wins in ten matches against top-50 players — and none of those defeats came at the hands of top-10 opponents. From ten tournaments this season, the American has progressed beyond the second round just five times. Still, his grass-court credentials are solid: 13 wins in 19 matches over the past two years, with a strong tie-break record. Nine of his last 12 three-set matches on grass saw the total reach at least 22 games. The only previous meeting between the two followed a similar script, with Fritz winning 6:4, 7:6.
Quentin Halys vs Taylor Fritz Prediction
Halys is in rhythm and more than capable of challenging a top-10 seed. Fritz has yet to find his groove this season and tends to concede games even when he wins. Expect a tight affair with long sets and very little between them.
