Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Conference League match.
This semi-final clash appears much more evenly poised than the other tie between Djurgårdens and Chelsea. Both Real Betis and Fiorentina are enjoying solid form and are currently in the hunt for European qualification next season.
Real Betis
Since overcoming Vitória de Guimarães in the Round of 16, Real Betis have suffered just one disappointing result — a 2:1 home defeat to Villarreal in La Liga. However, this deserves context. Firstly, Villarreal are direct competitors for a coveted Champions League position. Secondly, the squad has been particularly strong at the Estadio Benito Villamarín, winning six and drawing three of their last ten matches there. Their only defeat in that stretch came on 20 February, a 0:1 loss to KAA Gent in the Conference League play-in — a second leg where the outcome of the tie had already been effectively decided.
Fiorentina
Fiorentina are just outside the European qualification spots in Serie A, but only narrowly — one point off sixth and three points adrift of fourth, which would secure a Champions League berth. Fiorentina are unbeaten in their last nine matches across all competitions, with six wins and three draws. That unbeaten run includes three away games, the toughest of which came against AC Milan and ended in a 2:2 draw. Their previous UEFA Europa Conference League outing saw them ease past NK Celje with a 2:1 win.
Real Betis vs Fiorentina Prediction
These sides last met in 2022 in a friendly hosted by Real Betis, ending in a 3:1 victory for Real Betis. The hosts boast a strong home record, but nothing is certain against a team in form like Fiorentina. What does look likely, however, is a match with goals. In each of their last ten fixtures, the Total Over 2.5 goals line has been exceeded on multiple occasions — six times for Real Betis, and eight for Fiorentina.
