Real Betis started the season poorly: only one victory in five league matches, three draws and a defeat against Athletic Bilbao (1:2). Nevertheless, the team scored in every outing. Six different players found the net, and Brazilian winger Antony Matheus dos Santos has recently returned to the squad, which should add attacking thrust. At home against Real Sociedad, Real Betis have been particularly effective — three wins, a draw and a defeat in the last five head-to-head games in Seville.

Real Sociedad are navigating a difficult transition following the departure of Imanol Alguacil and the sale of key holding midfielder Martín Zubimendi Ibáñez. They are still winless with two draws and two defeats, including a 1:2 reverse to Real Madrid in the last round. Even with midfield reinforcements in the shape of Gonçalo Guedes, Carlos Soler and Ander Herrera, Real Sociedad are not producing enough in attack, which is reflected in their position in the standings (17th). The defence have committed one costly error leading to a goal in every round.
