Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the FIFA Club World Cup match.
Real Madrid may have advanced to the knockout stage, but their defensive performances have left much to be desired, conceding an average of 1.58 xGA per match. Juventus, by contrast, made a flying start to the tournament with two dominant wins, although their flaws were laid bare in the defeat to Manchester City. This clash between two traditional powerhouses is expected to unfold in an open, attacking fashion with goals likely at both ends.
Real Madrid
Real Madrid finished top of their group with seven points, securing wins over CF Pachuca (3:1) and FC Red Bull Salzburg (3:0) following an opening draw with Al Hilal (1:1). The Spaniards have leaned more on clinical finishing than sustained dominance; notably, they registered three goals from just four shots on target in the match against FC Red Bull Salzburg. Defensive concerns remain — the Madrid squad conceded in two of their three group games, including one against CF Pachuca while playing with ten men for most of the match. The attacking unit is in good form, but defensive frailties could prove costly.
Juventus
Juventus claimed second place in their group, opening with emphatic victories over Al Ain (5:0) and Wydad AC (4:1) before suffering a heavy 2:5 loss to Manchester City. In that match, the Italians were thoroughly outclassed in all departments. Even so, their attacking output has been significant, scoring 11 goals across their three fixtures. Each of their Club World Cup matches has featured at least three goals, with the Total Over 2.5 goals line being covered every time.
Real Madrid vs Juventus Prediction
Recent head-to-head meetings between these sides have tended to produce goals, with at least three goals scored in eight of their last ten encounters. Both teams are efficient in front of goal but continue to give up chances at the back. The statistics and current form suggest another high-scoring match is on the cards.
