Adam Williams presents his prediction for the EuroLeague match.
Things are not going well for Virtus Bologna. Likewise, Real Madrid are also struggling, especially considering their usual status. They lie outside the playoff zones and even miss the play-in. A loss here could drop them below 12th place.
Real Madrid
Real Madrid rank in the top ten for most statistical categories but struggle with three-point shooting. This was evident in their last EuroLeague outing against Olimpia Milano (76:85), where they were outshot from beyond the arc (26.7% to 41.4%) compared to their average of 33.5%. Before that, they lost to Maccabi Tel Aviv (78:79), despite leading for most of the second half, including 78-72 with 1:51 remaining. Their three-point shooting was also lacking: just 21.4% compared to Maccabi's 55%. Furthermore, veteran Sergio Llull suffered a thigh muscle tear and missed Sunday's ACB match against Gran Canaria (83:77).
Virtus Bologna
Adding intrigue to this match is the rumour that Real Madrid are in advanced negotiations with Virtus regarding Isaïa Cordinier, although the Bologna club's president firmly denies it. The French shooting guard will be crucial in the encounter with Real Madrid. In EuroLeague games, the 27-year-old is second on the team in points (13.8) and rebounds (4.6) and leads in assists (4.0). They can't do without him. Currently, Real Madrid sit in 16th place with six losses.
Real Madrid vs Virtus Bologna Prediction
The position occupied by the Spanish club is telling. Virtus will look to the duo of Tornike Shengelia and Isaïa Cordinier to cause significant problems. In their last three meetings, Real Madrid have won, with the smallest margin being 15 points, but this time the hosts don't seem as formidable. They just need to secure a win. If Real Madrid manage this, Virtus won't lose by much.
