Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the La Liga match.
The opening match of the upcoming La Liga fixture is unlikely to excite neutral fans, as both Real Valladolid and Las Palmas are currently struggling. Collectively, they have suffered eight defeats in February and have not secured any points this month.
Real Valladolid
Following the winter transfer window, Real Valladolid have effectively lost their chances of survival. They have lost six consecutive matches with a combined score of (3:22). In their match against Athletic Bilbao, where they lost (1:7), Real Valladolid conceded 3.80 xG and allowed 29 shots in 90 minutes. After Stanko Juric’s sending off and Joseph Aidoo’s injury, the team's performance significantly declined. They have scored only seven goals in 12 home matches – the worst home record in La Liga.
Las Palmas
Las Palmas have also struggled at home, with their last three away fixtures failing to yield points – since December, they have scored only three goals in four road matches. Last Saturday, they failed to defeat Barcelona for the second time this season (0:2) with just 0.47 xG and only two shots on target. Without the suspended Alex Suárez (due to accumulated yellow cards), head coach Diego Martínez is expected to adopt a compact, defensive approach.
Real Valladolid vs Las Palmas Prediction
Las Palmas are missing the injured players Fábio Silva, Adnan Januzaj, and Marvin Marvin – without them, their attack could have been more effective against Real Valladolid. With both teams unlikely to produce open, attacking football, our prediction is Total Under 2.5.
