Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the UEFA Super Cup match
Real Madrid is full of big-name players. The team is close to the first title in the new season. For the UEFA Super Cup the current Champions League winner will face Atalanta, which has some problems with players.
Real Madrid
One of the key players David Alaba is still unavailable for Real Madrid and the star players (Kylian Mbappé and Jude Bellingham) aren’t in the right form. Unlike the Brazilian trio (Vinícius Junior, Rodrygo and Endrick) who played well in recent friendlies. Carlo Ancelotti will probably start them, but last week Brahim Díaz scored 1+1 against Chelsea. The Spaniard with a Moroccan passport was even nominated for the 2024 African Player of The Year award.
Atalanta
Atalanta had a bad pre-season with one draw and two losses (conceded 9 goals). Their main striker Gianluca Scamacca got injured badly. For the replacement they bought Mateo Retegui, but things are more complicated with Teun Koopmeiners, who insisted on being sold. Gasperini might not pick him to play. Mario Pašalić will play instead with Éderson, but he isn’t as experienced.
Real Madrid - Atalanta Prediction
Atalanta has Ademola Lookman, but he needs help from teammates to play well. We think Real Madrid will win easily because they're stronger. Atalanta isn’t ready for such a tough match against a top team like Real Madrid.
