Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the WTA Doha match.
Mirra Andreeva battled through a tough three-setter in the opening round of the WTA 1000 event in Doha, but her inconsistent performances in early 2025 raise doubts about an easy win against Šramková. The Slovakian player has proven to be a dangerous opponent at this level and has already demonstrated her ability to challenge top-ranked players this season.
Rebecca Šramková
Šramková has been in excellent form at WTA 1000 tournaments, winning 10 of her last 12 matches at this level. More importantly, she has consistently kept matches competitive, covering the +4.5 game handicap in all of them. In her first-round match against Anhelina Kalinina (6:2, 6:3), she displayed dominance on serve, winning 65% of points behind her first delivery and 54% on return. Additionally, six of her eight matches in 2025 have gone over 20.5 games, and in four of her last five encounters against Russian players, the match extended beyond 23 games.
Mirra Andreeva
Andreeva needed a comeback to overcome Katie Volynets (4:6, 7:6, 6:4) in the opening round. While her serving performance had highlights (11 aces), she also showed inconsistency with a 54% first-serve percentage and five double faults. The young Russian has struggled to cover a game handicap of -4.5 in five of her last seven matches, and she has lost at least one set in seven of her last nine WTA 1000 appearances. This season, four of her eight matches have gone over 20 games, with two of those losses coming against world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka.
Rebecca Šramková vs Mirra Andreeva Prediction
Andreeva is not in peak form, and Šramková is more than capable of putting up a strong fight. Both players frequently engage in lengthy battles, and this match could easily go to a deciding set.
