Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the ATP 's-Hertogenbosch match.
The round of 16 at the grass-court event in 's-Hertogenbosch features a clash between two power servers, Reilly Opelka and Nicolás Jarry. Both were taken to three sets in the opening round, and with their similar styles and the surface playing fast, this match promises tight margins, few break points, and plenty of quick-fire service games.
Reilly Opelka
The American hasn’t looked particularly sharp since returning to grass. He scraped past Jesper de Jong in the first round (6:7, 7:6, 6:2), having previously lost to Mark Lajal (6:7, 3:6) and struggled against Denis Yevseyev despite winning in straight sets (6:1, 7:6). His trademark serve remains effective — averaging 19 aces per match — but his overall form is patchy. Opelka has landed just 59% of first serves this week, and since 2024 has won five matches on grass, four of which went the distance.
Nicolás Jarry
Jarry looks more at ease on this surface right now. He’s beaten Tristan Schoolkate and Luciano Darderi in three sets, losing only to Adrian Mannarino, the Newport 2023 champion. Each of those matches featured at least one tiebreak and stretched past 22 games. Jarry has also claimed notable grass wins in recent years, including victories over Stefanos Tsitsipas, Corentin Moutet, and Jannik Sinner, showing he can compete with the best when the surface suits.
Reilly Opelka vs Nicolás Jarry Prediction
Jarry has the edge in movement, variety, and current form. The Chilean often pushes stronger opponents deep into matches, while Opelka is still searching for rhythm and often relies solely on his serve to stay in contention. Expect a tightly contested encounter with extended sets and multiple tiebreaks. At least 24 games look likely.
