Adam Williams presents his prediction for the Sandown Sky Bet Atalanta Stakes (Group 3, 1m, 3yo+) horse racıng event.
Among the competition, the German-born filly Tamfana, trained by David Menuisier, stands out. In her last three starts, the filly has placed in top-level prizes: fourth place in the 1000 Guineas at Epsom, then third in the French Oaks, and finally, fourth in the Grand Prix de Paris, where she was the only filly among the colts. Dropping back to Group 3 and balancing the mile distance justifies her 1/1 odds on Betfred.
Doha looks solid as an alternative option. The daughter of Sea The Stars finished only fifth in her last start, but that was the Group 1 Qatar Nassau Stakes over 10 furlongs, and she held on for nine-and-a-half of them. She performs well over a mile, but the 6lb penalty for her age is a drawback to her chances.
Choisya, trained by the duo Simon & Ed Crisford, is also 4 years old. She has had a relatively quiet season, with just a couple of races in the spring and a win on August 10th in the Listed Dick Hern Stakes, where she defeated the favourite, Indelible.
