Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Brazilian Serie A match.
Both SC Internacional and Vitória are currently struggling to find form due to the absence of key first-team players. With both sides hovering near the relegation zone, a cautious approach focusing on defensive solidity is expected in this encounter between two lower-standings teams.
SC Internacional
Internacional entered the month-long Serie A break on a positive note in the Copa Libertadores, having finished top of their group. However, their domestic form has been poor. Consecutive 0:2 defeats to Fluminense and Atlético Mineiro have left the team in the relegation zone, just ahead of Fortaleza, Juventude, and Sport Club do Recife. The team is currently on a streak of four consecutive matches ending with Total Under 2.5 goals. With key players such as Gabriel Mercado, Sergio Rochet, and Alexandro Bernabei sidelined through injury, a turnaround in results seems unlikely.
Vitória
Vitória are enduring a serious attacking crisis. In the early hours of Wednesday, they were eliminated from the Copa do Nordeste following a 0:1 defeat to Associação Desportiva Confiança — their fifth straight match without scoring. In Serie A, only Juventude (8 goals) and Sport Club do Recife (5 goals) have scored fewer than Vitória’s 10. On Saturday, the team will also be without Ricardo Ryller and Lucas Halter, both suspended after accumulating too many yellow cards.
SC Internacional vs Vitória Prediction
Internacional will also be missing their attacking leader Alan Patrick, suspended due to yellow card accumulation. Vitória have managed just one away win against Internacional in the last six years. With both squads underperforming and missing several key players, the match in Porto Alegre is unlikely to produce many goals.
