Sheffield United
After a disastrous Premier League campaign last season, Sheffield United have worked hard on their defence. Over 23 matches this season, they have conceded only 13 goals, with only Burnley performing better defensively (9). Against Burnley, Sheffield United created 0.73 xG and managed only three shots on target, while the opponents were simply more clinical with their 0.58 expected goals. Sheffield United have seen over 2.5 goals in just five of their matches – the lowest entertainment level, along with two other clubs.
West Bromwich Albion
West Bromwich Albion aren't far behind in this regard, with 14 matches going under 2.5 goals in their 23 games. Against Derby County (1:2), they were without Carlos Carvalhal, who left to rescue Valencia in La Liga. Under new management with Chris Brunt, West Bromwich Albion are likely to continue playing conservatively, as they have only scored 27 goals – the worst in the top 10, alongside Blackburn Rovers and Swansea City.
