Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Copa Libertadores match.
São Paulo enter the final round of the Copa Libertadores group stage with qualification for the knockout round already secured. Talleres de Córdoba, by contrast, are out of contention for the top two spots in the group, but will be determined to earn at least a point away to São Paulo, as Alianza Lima still have a chance to overtake them for a place in the Copa Sudamericana.
São Paulo
Sunday’s 0:2 defeat to Mirassol marked the seventh time in the last ten matches that a Total Under 2.5 goals outcome occurred for São Paulo. In the Copa Libertadores, they have conceded only three goals across five games and remain unbeaten in the tournament. Two weeks ago, they battled to a dramatic 1:1 draw against Club Libertad, equalising late despite being down to ten men from the 15th minute. Alisson Castro was sent off in that fixture and will miss the final group match, along with five teammates who are sidelined through injury.
Talleres de Córdoba
Talleres de Córdoba have also seen the Total Under 2.5 goals outcome in four of their five group matches. On the road, they have suffered two defeats with a combined score of 2:5. While their current tally of four points could be enough to qualify for the Copa Sudamericana, Alianza Lima still have the opportunity to pick up points against Club Libertad. As such, the visitors are expected to adopt a cautious game plan in Brazil.
São Paulo vs Talleres de Córdoba Prediction
In early April, São Paulo claimed a narrow 1:0 victory over Talleres de Córdoba, with the only goal scored by the now-suspended Alisson Castro. We anticipate another tight contest here, with both sides likely to struggle in front of goal in what is shaping up to be a low-scoring encounter.
