Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the World Cup qualifying match.
The upcoming fixture will be Somalia’s third in 2025. They have already met Guinea in the current qualifying campaign for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, playing out a goalless draw, and that game showed that both sides struggled with chance conversion.
Somalia
It appears that Somalia have almost no chance of reaching the World Cup finals. Ranked 200th in the FIFA Rankings with four rounds to go, they cannot qualify automatically, and they are 11 points off the second play-off spot. Somalia have only one point on the board, which came from that meeting with Guinea. Their last victory in any match came back in December 2019, when Somalia beat Burundi (1:0), who are now ranked 139th in the world.
Guinea
Guinea sit much higher at 81st, but they are underperforming in this qualifying campaign and are second-bottom in Group G. They are six points clear of Somalia but they are five points adrift of Mozambique. It is obvious for Guinea that the home draw with the underdog was a missed opportunity. Now they must play away, albeit not in Somalia itself but at a neutral venue in Uganda.
Somalia vs Guinea Prediction
This year Guinea have played five away matches and won only one, against Niger (1:0). That scoreline, or a goalless draw, has occurred in four of those fixtures, so we are confidently backing Total Under 2.5 and Double Chance. Somalia still have plenty of work to do before they can start winning again.
