Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the English Premier League match.
Southampton won their last league match, yet they remain underdogs in this fixture. That’s because they are facing Bournemouth, one of the most dangerous teams in the Premier League right now.
Southampton
Southampton may have secured a hard-fought win over Ipswich Town, but it wasn’t exactly an impressive achievement. Ipswich, like Southampton, are also fighting for survival in the top flight. In the first meeting between the two sides, they snatched a late draw with a 95th-minute equaliser, and this time it was Southampton’s turn to steal the points with an 87th-minute winner. However, any signs of momentum were short-lived, as they were eliminated from the FA Cup by Burnley (0:1) shortly after. There is no sign of stability in their performances.
Bournemouth
Unlike Southampton, Bournemouth have been incredibly consistent. Yes, they lost to Liverpool in their last league outing, but that was their only defeat in 13 matches across two months. They quickly bounced back, eliminating Everton (2:0) in the FA Cup just days later. Squad-wise, they remain strong, even with Francisco Evanilson’s injury. Justin Kluivert and Antoine Semenyo have been key figures in attack, scoring five and two goals, respectively, across the last four league matches.
Southampton vs Bournemouth Prediction
Bournemouth should have no trouble securing another three points. Their attacking form is strong, and against an unstable Southampton side, they should score at least two goals to claim victory.
