Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Champions League match.
A visit to Sparta Prague could extend Atlético Madrid's winning streak to six games. The Madrid side still have a good chance of reaching the top eight in the league stage, but they can no longer afford to drop points in winnable matches.
Sparta Prague
Since the start of October, Sparta have only managed a few noteworthy performances, securing just two wins in their last ten matches across all competitions. They didn't notch a single victory in November, and following their home defeat to Stade Brestois (1:2), the Czech team dropped to 26th place in the Champions League standings. Against the French side, they conceded 1.49 xGA, and the damning shot on target disparity (1-7) highlighted their attacking frailties.
Atlético Madrid
During their five-match winning streak, Atlético Madrid failed to score more than two goals only once, which was away to Mallorca (1:0). In Paris against PSG (2:1), they demonstrated the strength of their counter-attacking style, scoring twice from three shots on target with 0.67 xG. Diego Simeone appears to have renewed Antoine Griezmann's and Julian Alvarez's desire to score goals. The forwards have developed a strong understanding, and in Prague, they are likely to create opportunities for each other.
Sparta Prague vs Atlético Madrid Prediction
Sparta Prague are capable of putting up a fight against Atlético, but the Madrid side will utilise their bench after the break. We believe the Spaniards will secure the win and climb a few spots in the standings.
