Adam Williams presents his prediction for the NHL match.
The two clubs are neck and neck in the standings, separated by just two points and sitting in 9th and 10th positions in the Western Conference. The Vancouver Canucks currently hold the slight edge, but they’ll have to contend with playing on the road. The Canucks are embarking on a week-long road trip through the central United States.
St. Louis Blues
The Blues could have already overtaken the Canucks but set themselves back with two home losses. However, there’s little criticism to be had, as those defeats came against top-tier teams—the Vegas Golden Knights (2:4) and Dallas Stars (0:2), both in the top four of the conference. Against the olden Knights, the Blues pushed until the end, conceding only an empty-net goal. Earlier that week, they managed to beat the Golden Knights in a shootout (5:4). In general, the Blues have performed solidly against teams of similar or lower level, avoiding significant setbacks.
Vancouver Canucks
The Vancouver Canucks, meanwhile, have been struggling away from home. Although they hold a positive overall road record (12-7-4), their recent form has been concerning, with only two wins in their last 11 away games. One of those victories came via a shootout (4:3 against the Seattle Kraken). Additionally, while they’ve picked up four points from overtime losses, it’s not a good look for the Canucks’ squad. At home, they also have a slightly negative record (9-10-6), raising further questions about their consistency.
St. Louis Blues vs Vancouver Canucks Prediction
The St. Louis Blues may find it challenging to secure a decisive victory over the Vancouver Canucks, but they’re well-positioned to force overtime at the very least. In their last four matchups in Missouri, this trend has held true: two wins and one game each decided by overtime, either in victory or defeat. For this reason, we’re backing the home side with a double chance.
