Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Ligue 1 match.
Stade Brestois 29
It is particularly disappointing for Stade Brestois, who featured in last season’s Champions League group stage. Have they switched off at the start, or has the schedule genuinely been tough? The only mitigation is the Paris Saint-Germain fixture, with PSG capable of beating strong opponents convincingly at the moment. Even so, there were no easy fixtures, but wins against that calibre of opposition should not be deemed out of the question. Credit to the team for twice coming from behind against Lille (3:3), although they could not replicate that on their travels. Perhaps home advantage will tell again. Over their previous ten at Stade Francis-Le Blé, they suffered only two defeats, and one of those was against Paris Saint-Germain.
Paris FC
Paris FC have only just won promotion to the top flight and are focused on picking up points to stay up. Their first success came against fellow newcomers FC Metz (3:2). Ilan Kebbal was the key figure with a brace, and Moses Simon secured the result. That, however, happened in the capital; away from Paris, the form has been far worse. Even Angers, who were down to ten men for a third of the match, beat them 1:0, while there was also a 5:2 defeat to Olympique de Marseille at the Orange Vélodrome.
Stade Brestois 29 vs Paris FC Prediction
Stade Brestois are somewhere in the middle. That is exactly where they resided for a large chunk of 2024/25, even though they also opened with two defeats. Stade Brestois should win, but to guard against any mishaps we will take the safer option — draw-no-bet.
