Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Ligue 1 match.
Over the last five weeks, Le Havre have suffered five consecutive defeats in the French championship, with each opposing team scoring at least two goals. It appears that the struggling underdogs will provide an easy test for Stade Rennais, who are eager to get back to winning ways and join the race for the top five.
Stade Rennais
In the same five-round stretch of Ligue 1, Stade Rennais faced a challenging fixture list, managing to defeat only Montpellier (3:0). On the other hand, they put up a fight against league leaders Paris Saint-Germain (1:3) and AS Monaco (1:2), and were even more threatening in the final third (4-2 in shots on target) against Champions League contenders Stade Brestois (1:1). Lorenz Assignon returns to the lineup after suspension, and Jota Filipe (1+3) has been providing solid contributions off the bench.
Le Havre
In eight matches this season, Le Havre kept a clean sheet only against recently promoted Saint-Étienne (2:0). Since 15 September, the team has embarked on a five-match losing streak with a cumulative score of 1:14, marking them as prime candidates for relegation. Only two other teams in Ligue 1 have conceded more than Le Havre.
Stade Rennais vs Le Havre Prediction
Last season, Stade Rennais took four points from two encounters against Le Havre (2:2 and 1:0). At home, the hosts should break through Le Havre's defence, which isn’t ready to compete with teams vying for European competition.
