Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the ATP Barcelona match.
The Greek player began his ATP 500 campaign in Barcelona in dominant fashion, comfortably defeating Reilly Opelka (6:2, 6:2). Next up, Stefanos Tsitsipas will face another American in Sebastian Korda. Korda had a tough time in his opening round and will face an even sterner test against Tsitsipas.
Stefanos Tsitsipas
Tsitsipas has consistently delivered strong performances in Barcelona — in the past three years, his only losses at this tournament have come against eventual finalists or champions. Since 2022, he has won nine of his eleven matches here. In his opener, he dismantled Reilly Opelka in just 16 games, taking only 1 hour and 10 minutes. Tsitsipas converted four break points, landed 75% of points on his first serve, and made just nine unforced errors.
Sebastian Korda
Korda has shown flashes of quality, but overall his form has been inconsistent. At his previous tournament in Monte Carlo, he was eliminated in the first round by Jiri Lehecka (3:6, 6:7). In the opening round in Barcelona, he needed three sets to get past Matteo Arnaldi (3:6, 6:3, 6:2), committing 32 unforced errors compared to 17 from his opponent. Korda continues to struggle against top-tier opposition, having lost five of his last six matches against top-10 players.
Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Sebastian Korda Prediction
Tsitsipas looks focused on another strong run in Barcelona, and his first-round showing underlined how well he adapts to this surface. Given the conditions, Korda — who performs better on quicker courts — is unlikely to keep pace or handle sustained pressure. Stefanos Tsitsipas is expected to secure another win against an American opponent and progress to the next round.
