Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Championship match.
Sunderland missed the chance to capitalise on Burnley’s slip-up and suffered a defeat in their last outing. They remain in fourth place, a position they’ve held for several months now. Meanwhile, Hull City climbed out of the relegation zone thanks to a hard-fought draw.
Sunderland
The only excuse Sunderland can lean on is that they faced the league leaders away from home. They even came close to winning, leading until the 78th minute thanks to a goal from Wilson Isidor. However, they conceded twice after that, with the decisive goal coming in the 95th minute. Sunderland's accuracy was remarkable in this match: all six of their shots were on target. On a positive note, they found the net once again, marking their sixth consecutive game with a goal. Additionally, the match against Leeds United was the fifth out of the last six where the over 2.5 goals bet landed.
Hull City
Hull City’s draw against Norwich City (1:1) saw them climb to 21st place. They took the lead as early as the 14th minute. However, they could’ve done better in terms of attacking quality (0.65 xG), though 12 shots is a decent tally. Their last two matches have seen two goals each, but Hull City have shown they can deliver high-scoring games, especially against top teams: a draw with Leeds United (3:3) and a win over Sheffield United (3:0). Hull are proactive in attack but also leave space for counter-attacks.
Sunderland vs Hull City Prediction
A similar scenario is expected in this upcoming clash. At least three goals seem a safe bet here. For a more enticing odds boost, we’ll add that Sunderland will avoid defeat.
