Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the World Cup qualifying match.
Switzerland start qualifying as clear favourites to win the group and must underline that quality in precisely these home fixtures. Kosovo arrive in decent form: the squad performed well in the UEFA Nations League and beat Iceland in the play-offs. For the visitors, the trip to Bern is a chance to cement their status as a solid mid‑ranking side and try to take a point.
Switzerland
After a dismal UEFA Nations League in which Switzerland finished bottom, results have improved markedly. In March and June they put together a run of impressive friendlies: against Luxembourg (3:1), Mexico (4:2) and the United States (4:0). The attack has been particularly sharp, averaging three goals per friendly, and forward Breel Embolo scored three times across that stretch.
Kosovo
Kosovo have shown contrasting form: they beat Armenia (5:2) and Comoros (4:2) in friendlies but conceded four in the process. In the UEFA Nations League, the team earned promotion to League B by defeating Iceland in the play-offs (2:1, 3:1). In attack there are standout performers — Vedat Muriqi, Amir Rrahmani and Fisnik Asllani — who are capable of punishing stronger opponents. However the defence remains the weak spot, and Kosovo concede in almost every match.
Switzerland vs Kosovo Prediction
Switzerland should win thanks to superior quality and squad depth. However Kosovo can attack and should get on the scoresheet at least once. We expect a high‑scoring game and Total Over 2.5 looks the call.
