Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the ATP Wimbledon match.
Taylor Fritz
The American has been in excellent form throughout the tournament. In the quarter-finals, he faced world No. 20 Karen Khachanov and delivered a strong performance, dropping just one set (6:3, 6:4, 1:6, 7:6). Notably, Fritz has now gone three consecutive matches without being pushed to five sets. In the fourth round, his opponent retired after the opening set, allowing Taylor to conserve energy ahead of the semi-finals.
Carlos Alcaraz
Meanwhile, Carlos Alcaraz has benefitted from a significantly more favourable draw. His only real test came in the match against world No. 14 Andrey Rublev, who failed to provide much resistance (6:7, 6:3, 6:4, 6:4). None of his other opponents have been ranked inside the world’s top 50, making it difficult to assess the true level of his form. Taylor Fritz is clearly a stronger and more tactically astute opponent.
Taylor Fritz vs Carlos Alcaraz Prediction
Expectations of a straight-sets win for Carlos Alcaraz seem misplaced. The Spaniard has only recorded such victories against far weaker opposition, and even dropped a set against Andrey Rublev, who has yet to rediscover top form. Taylor Fritz is bound to offer much sterner resistance, and even if he doesn’t reach the final, he should be capable of taking at least a couple of sets.
