Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the 2024 Australian Open match.
Taylor Fritz
Fritz had a tough match against Díaz Acosta (3-2). He easily beat Gaston and Marozsán in the next rounds, though. Fábián was terrible: 10 double faults and 48 unforced errors in 4 sets. It wasn’t a problem of Taylor, anyway. He made 79% 1st serve win and 65% 2nd serve win. Fritz made 52 winners with 24 unforced errors and 19 aces. If Taylor Fritz keeps on playing in this marvelous way, he will have good chances to advance to the quarter-finals.
Stefanos Tsitsipas
Greek could have lost the game against Thompson in the second round, but he managed to win (3-1). Tsitsipas was way more confident in the third round. He made 12 aces without double faults, making 75% 1st serve win and 57% 2nd serve win. Stefanos was good in the most important moments, winning 8 out of 9 break points. Tsitsipas will do his best to advance to the quarter-finals.
Taylor Fritz – Stefanos Tsitsipas prediction
Stefanos Tsitsipas reached the final in Melbourne last year. He lost the game against Djokovic without any chance (0-3). But it was OK. The Greek player may face Djokovic in the quarter-final this time. But he needs to beat Fritz first.
Fritz and Tsitsipas had a head-to-head match in the fourth round of the Australian Open last year. That was an exciting game that was won by Tsitsipas (3-2). This game should be tough, too.
