Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Serie A match.
Over the past month, Torino have lost all the ground they gained at the season's start, slipping from the top spots to the usual mid-table position. Facing Como 1907, they risk extending their winless streak to five matches, as the newcomers appear quite stable.
Torino
Problems for Torino began after they were eliminated from the Coppa Italia against Empoli (1:2). In three Serie A rounds, they conceded nine goals: against Lazio, Inter Milan, and Cagliari (all 2:3 defeats), consistently allowing chances at their goal. Against the Sardinian side, the team conceded twice in the final 15 minutes, with a total of 1.33 xGA. Additionally, Emirhan Ilkhan, Perr Schuurs, and Duván Zapata remain sidelined with injuries, while defensive leader Guillermo Maripán is suspended.
Como 1907
Since the September international break, Como have only lost to league leaders Napoli (1:3) in five encounters. Against Parma (1:1), the team were more threatening in attack (1.35 xG vs to 0.51 xG and 61%-39% in possession). It seems the Serie A newcomers have found their core group — with Sergi Roberto and Nico Paz providing creativity for forward Patrick Cutrone, and Alberto Dossena and Marc Oliver Kempf forming a solid defensive partnership.
Torino vs Como 1907 Prediction
Torino and Como generated similar xG (10.62 vs 10.35), but Torino's defence is allowing far more chances (15.47 vs 10.38 in xGA). The newcomers to Italy's top flight will capitalise on their opponents' slump and take points.
