Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Serie A match.
Bookmakers have little doubt that this game will be the least entertaining of the round. In Turin, it's possible that Monza will extend their goal drought, having failed to score in their last three Serie A matches.
Torino
Due to a series of injuries, Torino have seen a significant decline in their performances. After being eliminated from the Cup by Empoli (1:2), they have suffered six defeats in seven Serie A fixtures—since late October, they haven't found the net in three of those games. In the derby against Juventus (0:2), Torino didn't exactly fail, but their attack was lacklustre (only 0.41 xG and one shot on target).
Monza
Without Raffaele Palladino to steer them, as he progresses with Fiorentina, Monza have become contenders for relegation from the top division. They faced a tough spell against Atalanta (0:2), AC Milan, and Lazio (both 0:1), generating only 2.19 xG in total. With the lowest expected goals tally in Serie A (8.09), Monza are not expected to score until there's a significant turnaround.
Torino vs Monza Prediction
Since May 2023, Torino and Monza have each seen three matches end with a total under 2.5 goals. In Turin, the teams' weak attacks will likely struggle to create scoring opportunities once again.
