Adam Williams presents his prediction for the NHL match.
The Toronto Maple Leafs and the Florida Panthers are set to face each other three times before the end of the regular season, making this a mini-series and a potential dress rehearsal for the playoffs. Just two points separate them in the standings, adding extra intrigue to this clash.
Toronto Maple Leafs
In last weekend’s matchup against the Colorado Avalanche, Anthony Stolarz conceded more than four goals for the first time this season (4:7). This wasn’t just an off night for the netminder—the Maple Leafs have been allowing too many high-danger chances lately. Out of their nine worst performances in expected goals against (xGA) this season, four have come since early February. The addition of veteran blueliner Brandon Carlo was meant to stabilise their defence, but his debut against the Avalanche showed that immediate improvements won’t come overnight.
Florida Panthers
Since February 1st, the Panthers have been operating at full throttle, winning 10 of their last 13 games to take control of the Atlantic Division. Their success isn’t just reflected in results but also in advanced metrics. Only the Vegas Golden Knights have a higher xGF% (59.3%) at even strength. The arrival of Seth Jones (7+21) has already paid off, as he seamlessly stepped into a leadership role on the blue line in Aaron Ekblad’s absence. In five games this month, the Panthers have conceded just four goals, even against high-scoring opponents like the Tampa Bay Lightning (2:1) and the Columbus Blue Jackets (3:0).
Toronto Maple Leafs vs Florida Panthers Prediction
Expect a playoff-style battle filled with physicality, scrappy moments, and limited space on the ice—an environment where the Panthers thrive. The Toronto Maple Leafs have already lost 11 games in regulation at home, more than any other playoff-bound team. Given that, taking the Panthers with a safety net on the draw no bet market looks like solid value.
