Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the English Premier League match.
Both clubs followed a similar script in the past seven days. They both narrowly lost to title contenders in the Premier League over the weekend and then secured victories against lower-league opponents midweek, giving most of their first-team players a rest.
Tottenham Hotspur
For Tottenham Hotspur, the loss to Arsenal was particularly painful. It wasn't just the significance of the match, but also that the team arguably played better than their rivals. The statistics show that Tottenham created more scoring opportunities, taking more shots (15-7), and dominated possession and territory. They conceded from a corner, something that can happen to any team. In the EFL Cup against Coventry City, they had to work hard, but two late goals from their secondary lineup ensured their place in the Round of 16.
Brentford
Brentford started brilliantly against Manchester City with Yoane Wissa scoring in the first minute. However, they conceded twice in the first half, and Wissa, the goal scorer, had to be substituted due to injury before halftime. Thomas Frank confirmed recently that Wissa will be out for two months with an ankle injury, which will significantly affect the team's attacking potential. In the match against Leyton Orient, Kevin Schade replaced him at the front, but Schade is primarily a winger. Igor Thiago is also injured, so one of the wingers will likely play centrally against Tottenham Hotspur. They have no classic centre-forwards left.
Tottenham Hotspur vs Brentford Prediction
Considering Tottenham Hotspur's struggles to convert chances in the North London Derby and Brentford's injuries in their attacking line, a bet on a low-scoring match is tempting.
