Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the English Premier League match.
Ange Postecoglou remains in charge, even though Tottenham Hotspur have once again deservedly lost their match. Now, Wolverhampton, fresh off their Boxing Day victory over Manchester United (2:0), are coming to visit.
Tottenham Hotspur
The head coach attributes the club's struggles to injuries and the fact that players must take to the pitch every three days, making such results logical. Indeed, this is the situation: eight players are out injured, and since their last game against Nottingham Forest (0:1), another centre-back, Radu Drăgușin, has joined the injury list. Right-back Djed Spence, who wasn’t initially in the main lineup due to earlier injuries, will also miss out after a late red card. In their previous encounter, even 70% possession couldn’t save Tottenham Hotspurs, as Nottingham Forest struck with a superb counter-attack. Up front, their 10 (2) shots and 1.12 xG weren't particularly threatening.
Wolverhampton
Wolverhampton, under their new manager's guidance, are genuinely dangerous. They’ve won their last two games with an aggregate score of 5:0, needing only 15 shots and 1.97 xG to do so. Even the rejuvenated Manchester United suffered, with Matheus Cunha scoring directly from a corner. Questions must be asked of the opposing goalkeeper and Bruno Fernandes, who was sent off again.
Tottenham Hotspur vs Wolverhampton Prediction
We will likely see Tottenham Hotspur dominate possession once more, only to be caught out by counter-attacks, with scarcely any reliable defenders left. So, it’s a solid prediction that the visitors won't fall behind by more than a goal.
