Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Ligue 1 match.
Toulouse lead Paris Saint-Germain going into this fixture — they are ahead of Paris Saint-Germain on goal difference and sit second. PSG will look to go top of the standings quickly.
Toulouse
Toulouse have the 10th most valuable squad despite a very young average age (22.5 years). Only Strasbourg Alsace field a younger group. A home win over Stade Brestois 29 (2:0) was expected, but they deserve credit for their resilience away to OGC Nice (1:0), despite being widely viewed as outsiders. The team restricted OGC Nice effectively — 0.79 xGA allowed and 13 shots faced, but only two on target. They seized their moment a minute before the end of normal time with a decisive late goal. That shows there is experience within the Toulouse ranks as well.
Paris Saint-Germain
Against Paris Saint-Germain, the plan will be to cede possession and look to counter — there is little alternative. Angers SCO tried to hold out at Parc des Princes but could not (1:0). Ousmane Dembélé initially spared Angers SCO by missing a penalty, but Paris Saint-Germain were relentless, registering 21 attempts. One of four shots on target did go in. It is also worth noting that their attack is not at full strength due to injury in the forward line.
Toulouse vs Paris Saint-Germain Prediction
Toulouse will have even fewer chances of winning than they had against OGC Nice, but a clean sheet does offer reason for optimism. The underdogs may lose by the minimum margin, which also happened last season (0:1).
