Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the UEFA Nations League match.
Turkey
Turkey have already played one match in the tournament against Wales, but accomplished nothing significant, securing just one point with a goalless draw. Yes, the Turkish side played the last 30 minutes with a man down and could have lost, but they managed to hold on until the final whistle. Now, Iceland, who confidently secured three points in their first match against Montenegro, will try to take points off Turkey as well.
Iceland
Historically, Iceland have had the upper hand in head-to-head encounters. However, it's worth noting that their last win over Turkey was in 2019, and much has changed for both teams since then. Iceland have significantly declined as a strong team, moving closer in standard to the Faroe Islands and Andorra. In the upcoming encounter, Turkey have the potential to secure a convincing win over the Icelandic side.
Turkey - Iceland Prediction
Currently, Iceland are on the top in the group, though they were not the favourites of the quartet. Squad issues for the visitors are likely to be a major problem in today’s match. Yes, Turkey also have gaps in their lineup, but they can cover these thanks to their deep bench, something Iceland do not possess. Moreover, the players on their bench do not quite match the level of their Turkish opponents. Therefore, one bet is on a confident win for Turkey, and the second is also on a victory for the hosts, but in terms of offsides, as Iceland have lost in terms of offsides in seven of their last nine away matches.
