Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Volleyball Nations League match.
Turkey are currently stuck at the bottom of the standings in 16th place and are at serious risk of missing out on the play-offs. A solitary victory over China stands as their only positive result from the opening four rounds. Slovenia, on the other hand, are firmly established in the top five and are competing for a spot in the final stage.
Turkey
Turkey (ranked 18th in the world) have had an unconvincing start to the Volleyball Nations League, suffering three defeats in four matches. However, they did manage a dominant 3:0 win over a solid China side. Despite their poor record, the Turks have put up a fight in every match and have not lost any of them by more than eight points. Notably, they managed to take one set each from the Netherlands (ranked 12th) and Serbia (ranked 14th).
Slovenia
Slovenia (ranked 3rd) have been collecting points with confidence and have already beaten Cuba (ranked 11th) and the United States (ranked 6th), both by the same 3:1 scoreline. Their only defeat came against Brazil (ranked 7th), which was widely expected. In their last five encounters with Turkey, Slovenia have come out on top four times. However, only once did they win by more than a seven-point margin.
Turkey vs Slovenia Prediction
Although Turkey are languishing near the bottom of the standings, they have consistently put up a fight in all their matches. Slovenia have had the upper hand in recent head-to-heads, but their wins have not been particularly dominant. Even if Turkey do lose, it is likely to be by a narrow margin. A heavy defeat is highly unlikely.
